Here is another big one that needs to be turned towards the wall for a bit so that I can turn it back around in a week to see if it needs any final changes before pronouncing it "finished."

Thanks to Josh for helping me with these. I wanted some business cards but didn't want to put myself in too much of a box since my painting style can be varied. These are a simple -but still artistic- solution.

I'm really excited about this piece. It is the first to complete in a whole series w/ gold leaf hand prints in nature. It is the biggest painting I've ever challenged myself with and I'm not entirely sure it is complete- have to turn it around and not look at it for a week or so to be sure.

I'm so excited to be at Ten Women on Main St. in Santa Monica. Here are a few pics I took of the space when I was working this afternoon -my paintings, prints and cards are behind the counter and below the front of the counter.

If you live in the area come and see me! I work there every Wednesday from 11-4 but my work is there every day!

Okay. Just for giggles I'd like to know how many artists out there have heard this phrase

over

and over

and over.

I feel like a psychic because I know when I tell a person that I'm an artist, inevitably this phrase (or some version of it) will come out of their mouth.

SO...I know that this post is rather silly but I just couldn't help myself. I wanted to have a conversation about it because it is a source of hilarity for me. -Anyone else?

Welcome to my new blog space and thanks for following me here! My aim for this blog is to keep a record of the art that I make, share inspiration and plug into the online artist community.

I have a lot of stuff that I'm working on (and love lists) so here's what's coming soon (although not necessarily in this order):
  • Pic of my display at Ten Women on Main St. in Santa Monica (I just got accepted this month and am super excited!)
  • A bunch of large-scale landscapes in which gold leaf makes an appearance
  • A few more watercolor portraits
  • New business cards
And...a little inspiration (and to make sure there are pictures with this post -hehe), Quentin Blake is one of my favorite illustrators. He never studied art but just decided to give it a whirl one day and ended up illustrating most of Roald Dahl's books. What innate talent! His work is always playful and makes telling a story through pictures look effortless. Not only that but he has a gross streak (see second pic below) which is...awesome.
